Issue ov £5,000, at Ten per Cent - Interest. / "VTOTICE is hereby given that, pursuant -Ll to i list ructions irorn tlie Government of New Zealand, the Union Bank of Australia, Lyttelton, will receive Tenders for the whole or any portion of the sum of Five Thousand Pounds of Dehentures of the Governwent of New Zealand, to be issued under the authority of the New Zealand Debenture Act, 1856, such Debentures to be redeemable at the Colonial Treasury in New Zealand, in Two Years from the date of payment of the money, and' to bear<interest at the rate of £10 per centum per annum, payable half-yearly, the principal and interest being secured" on, and payable out^of the General Revenue of the colony. Each Debenture will, at the option of the party tendering:, be issued for the sums of Ten,Fifty, or One Hundred Pounds, and the Halfyearly interest will be paid at the Colonial. Treasury, or at any branch of the Union Bank of Australia in New Zealand, at the option of the holder. The Undersigned1 will receive tenders for the above until Three o'clock on Saturday, 21st March, when the tenders will he opened. Certificates of ownership will be issued, on payment of the amount, to parties whose tenders shall be accepted, and interest will commence from the date of payment. Debentures with coupons attached will he issued in exchange to the holders of the certificates, as soon as they are received from the New Zealand Government, after advice of negotiation. Tenders to be under sealed covers, endorsed Tenders for Debentures, and addressed to the undersigned, and to,state in Debentures of what amount it is desired to take the sum tendered for. NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN, THAT during' the next Session of the Provincial Ouiici! of the Province of Canterbury, William White of Kaiapoi, in the said Province, contractor, will apply for an ordinance enabling him at his own sole costs and charges to erect a Bridge over the River Waimakariri, thus establishing an-easy and safe camniunication between the country lying to the Northward of the Waimakariri, and the Island of Kaiapoi. With power to the said William White to levy for his own sole use and benefit fora certain term of years tolls upon ' all traffic passing over the said Bridge, during the said term. Which said tolls .to be fixed and determined by the contemplated ordinance.
