Markets.

By the Kate Kearney, from Sydney, we have the following Commercial Intelligence, taken from the • Empire,' Jan. 24. There has been an alteration in the rates of exchange on London; the Banks sell at 2-|- premium, and purchase at 1 premium. The rates of discount remain at 6 per cent, for bills under. 95 clays, 7 per cent, for bills over 95 and under 126 days, and 8 per cent, for bills over 126 days currency. Breadstuffs remain without any important alteration; there have been several extensive sales of California and other flours. Some oi these being more or less damaged were disposed of at very low rates. Our stocks are verylarge, and even, should the foreign flour be taken up, our own harvests have been so abundant that it is supposed that we can readily meet the year's demand. The Chih Flour Company ■ quote fine flour at £18 per ton; Sydney made flour, £17; and California* £16 ;

Wdo not seem, disposed to sell, under these fio-ures Our millers quote fine and second flour at £18 and £16 per ton respectively. ■ ' Wool.— A tolerably, good' supply, but the maiority being of medium quality scarcely realized the average rates of last week for these descriptions. A few first-class brands were, however, bought up with avidity at extreme rates, and upon the whole the market is firm at our quotations. Prices CimaEKTT ' ' • ' £ s. (I. ■£■ s. d.
