GENTLEMEN,— Having been requested by his Honor the Superindent to make the special survey of the Port Hills recommended by the Provincial Council in a resolution passed on the 20th November, ultimo, it became necessary for me to resign mv seat in the Provincial Council. I now offer myself as a candidate for, the vacant seat, and if you should please again to honour me with your confidence and support, T shall, as heretofore, endeavour to consult the general welfare by supporting all measures calculated to do public good. Bray, Esquire; I have been waited upon by a body of the Electors, and presented with a requisition most numerously signed, requesting that I will come forward as a candidate for the vacant seat; in your hands I therefore place myself, with the assurance that if elected I will use my best endeavours to promote your. interests, and the general welfare of the colony.
