In all the races an allowance of 4 lbs. will be made to mares and geldings, and an additional allowance of 4 lbs. will be made for all horses brought from the other provinces of New Zealand, should they, arrive within two calendar months from the first day of the meeting. No person riot a subscriber of £1 to the Racing Fund will be allowed to enter a horse for any race except the Hack Stakes, nor for that race, unless a subscriber to the amount of ten shillings. Horses for --the Hack Stakes, Consolation Stakes, and Forced Handicap, to be entered on the ground—:no other post entries "allowed. No public money will be added to the Sweepstakes or entrances by the Stewards unless three horses, the bona, fide property of separate owners, do start. The riders in all the races excepting the Hack Stakes must appear in the" usual Jockey Costume. A bell will ring for saddling, and another for starting : not more than five minutes allowed after the last bell, when the horses at the post will be started. Horses to be at the post for the Hurdle Race and Produce Stakes, at 12 o'clock on each day. The Stakes will be paid by the Treasurer, on Saturday, January 31, at the Golden Fleece Hotel, at 3 p"m. All persons are particularly requested not to bring dogs or foals on the Course. A BRASS BAND WILL BE IN ATTENDANCE, CANTERBURY JOCKEY CLUB. GRAND STAND. It is earnestly requested that those who have promised subscriptions towards the erection of a Grand Stand on the' Canterbury Race Course, will at once pay the same to Mr. J. T. Brown, the treasurer. Subscriptions promised -. £150 5 0 Subscriptions already collected 56 19 6 GENERAL RACE PUND. The amount of subscriptions promised to this date is £103, which will be divided (after deductions for Hack. Stakes, &c.,) as follows: — , one third to the Canterbury" Cup; one-third to the Produce Stakes; one-sixth to the Hurdle Race; and one-sixth to the Consolation Stakes. All subscriptions received on the general list after this date will be divided in the same proportions.
