S~^\ ENTLEMEN,—Having, been, requesV_>* ted by his Honor the Superindent to make the special survey of the Port Hills recommended by the Provincial Council in a resolution passed on the 20fch November, ultimo, it became necessary for me to resign my seat in the Provincial Council. I now offer myself as a candidate for the vacant seat, and if you should please again to honour me with your confidence and support, I shall, as heretofore, endeavour to consult the I general welfare by- supporting ' all measures i calculated to do public good. ■ I am, Gentlemen, Yours obediently, W. B. BRAY. Avonhead, Jan. 10, 1857. NOTICE. HIS Honor the Superintendent directs the publication of the ' following notice. The Provincial Government are prepared to receive Tenders for leasing the block of land reserved for the landing of diseased sheep on Adderley Head, containing 2,530 acres or thereabouts, on the following terms. The Lease to be for a term of not more than three years, from the Ist February, 1857. No sheep to be placed on the run by the Lessee ; —only cattle or horses. In case any diseased sheep shall be ordered to be landed on the run, the Lessee to remove his stock therefrom immediately on receiving notice from the Inspector of Sheep that the run is required by the Government for diseased sheep. The rent for each year to be paid in advance — : to be repaid by the. Gpvernment for the time the Lessee may be deprived of the occupation of the run for the above purpose. Applications to be made- in writing to the , Provincial Secretary, before Noon, on Saturday, the 31st instant, stating the amount of rent offered, and the term of lease required.
