Oxford St., Lyttelton, Jan. 16, 1857. TENDERS FOR FIREWOOD. TENDERS will be received at this Office until Noon, on Saturday, the 24th instant, for the supply of Eighteen Cords of Firewood. The wood must be Black Pine, and cut into lengths of two feet, and delivered and stacked, 8 cords at the Provincial Government Buildings, and 10 cords at the Land Office. Tenders will be taken for the supply of either or both lots, arid must state the time within which the wood will be delivered. The Provincial Government will not be bound to accept the lowest tender. The Provincial Government are prepared to receive Tenders for leasing the block of land reserved for the landing of diseased sheep on Adderley Head, containing 2,530 acres or thereabouts, on the following terms. The Lease to be for a term of not more than three years, from the Ist February, 1857. No sheep to be placed on the run by the Lessee; —only cattle or horses. In case any diseased sheep shall be ordered to be landed on the run, the Lessee to remove his stock therefrom immediately on receiving notice from the Inspector of Sheep that the run is required by the Government for diseased sheep. The rent for each year to be paid in advance —to be repaid by the Government for the time the Lessee may be deprived of the occupation of the run for the above purpose. i Applications to be made in writing to the Provincial Secretaiy, before Noon, on Saturday, the 31st instant, stating the amount of rent offered, and the term of lease required.
