TO ALL WHOM IT MAY CONCERN. /^\ ENTLEMEN Creditors,—l think it vIX~ advisable to address you under the following circumstances. A careful inspection of my affairs furnishes me with the following statement for your information. My unsecured liabilities are under £WQ, all told. Number of claimants thereon, 43; sums exceeding £20 and under £30, but two; the rest forming the. aggregate from £20 upwards. In disposing of personal property, I have sacrificed to the last. In doing so I have tested the state of the money market. To get even half value for any general lot you may have to offer is out of the question, albeit the lot be a picked one, and, otherwise, should be saleable.- To wit! a gold watch in good going order, with a full length gold chain, sold the other day at Messrs. Noble Campbell and Go's (and previously- advertised,) for the sum of £3 4s. 6d., the chain itself being valued for £4. What call jow this ? With such for a fact judge for yourselves. This case is one of many I have lately been concerned in. -Under these circumstances I have stared my position in the face, and have come to this determination, (subject to your approval, but not otherwise,) to goto England and make such arrangements as can pnly be made by me on the spot. My wife and child in the, meantime I would leave here. You may say that if I have money to go to England then I should have so much to pay towards my debts; but this I tell you honestly and openly, if I can succeed in making, arrangements for a passage, that it must be on terms ■until I arrive there. To delay, or interrupt my going, can only damage the" cause we would both serve. In placing matters thus before you, I feel that I have done my duty, although truly a trying" and disagreeable one. -The bar of secresy has been removed from my door, and I have bid you enter. Do now with me as you think fit, and recollect that I am at your service any time you like to call upon me. Shirk you ? I never shall! To badger and worry a man under my avowed and challenged circumstances seems to me unmanly and without any desirable purpose. The man that can pay, should be made pay, and the man that will when he can should have time. Although in a way so novel, yet do I prefer giving publicity to my intentions thus rather than have them misunderstood by private circulations or road side gossip, so that you can stop me if you think fit. Go without telling you I would not; albeit, I went to return within a twelvemonth with your money. Yours very obediently, WESTBY H:'PERCIVAL. Governor's Bay, Dec. 29th, 1856.
