SOUTH AUSTRALIA.

Our dates extend to the 28th ult,

The South Australians have received their New Constitution, and are excusably jubilant over it. The White Swan arrived with the precious documents from Melbourne on the 24th ult. The next morning a Government Gazelle Extraordinary was issued announcing the fact, and containing the new appointments. The Register says,—The new Waste Lands Act will come into operation simultaneously with the proclamation of the Constitution. Responsible government, inaugurated this day, will henceforth direct, for weal or for woe, the destinies of the province. We have no fears as to the result. The Times remarks, —The " Good time Coming" is now really just going to begin. Besides our political regsneration, there are vast things in store for us. Our corn fields are loaded with more treasures than a veritable gold mine. Our copper regions are bursting with increased abundance. And our land sales are so flourshing, that one would think the public were determined to remove all difficulty about a Waste Lands Act, by buying up the whole territory themselves. But this is not all; employment for every class is on the increase ; bread is rapidly becoming cheaper ; and meat, according to the last report of the Inspector of sheep, ought to be, and must be, ere long, about half its present price. The only fear is, that we shall all get rich too fast, like Mynheer Yon Sneigel's ducks, which pined themselves to death, because they could not eat any more.
