GENTLEMEN',— Having undertaken the ollico of Resident .Magistrate, it has become necessary that 1 should resign tho seat in the Provincial Council with which you entrusted me. I now beg leave to present myj self as a candidate for re-election. My public conduct and opinions have been so fully before you that it is hardly necessary I should on the present occasion trouble you with, any lengthened declaration of political'fiiiMi. 1 cannot, however, allow the opportunity to pass over without stating that 1 aur-an advocate for the greatest economy in the public expenditure which is consistent with the eilicionoy of the Provincial Government, and that I shall always support such a system for the management of the waste lands of the Crown as tends to place the progress and prosperity of this important province upon a safe and enduring basis. 1 have the honor to be, Gentlemen.
