LONDON WOOL SALES.

We extract fr ßin t'-e < Home News ' the London \Vooi Report, dated July 4

The nexi public sales of colonial wool are fixed fort.ie 17th of July, anl the quantity arrived' Tor sale consist of 60,500 bales, which, with anticipated arrivals, inav give about 70 000 hales Since the cloieof ihe May sales the'feeling in the Isortn has b ? en d culediy for lower pricw Ihe emulations in price at these sales led many of the dealers t» concede about Id !„-* „„ tneir J r] pur . chases.evincing a desire to clear out their stocks before the next sales, and b* prepared for operations on a more extensive scale, should the rednc ion be established which all looklfor. It should be borne in mind that we are getting Hi* «;ip■ much wYu-r ihan last year, and

it is generally believed by well-informed parties tl^t this year'sjimport|will not equal last by 5,000 bales. A combination of circumstances may make the import larger at one period than another, and it behaves all parties interested in this great trade to make themselves well acquainted with the facts. Our dealers and manufacturers seem determined if possible to have wool cheaper, and if some step is not taken by those most interested to withdraw and hold, should prices drop much, the tendency to decline will be increased as the sales progress. There is nothing in the course of trade to warrant & decline in price of more than 5 to 7£ percent, j a concession needed, for the clothiers have not been able to sell with much profit to themselves, and the same com= plaint is made from Bradford.

The easy state of the money market, and the probability of discounts declining still further, will have its effect; which, with the present favourable state pf the weather for the crops, will give much confidence.

At the recent German fairs our buyers purchased very sparingly, and it is hoped that their operations for the finer clips of Sydney wool will be greater than usual. The West of England manufacturers are freer buyers as'they become acquainted with the qualities of the best bright thin brand and Mpreton Bay wools; the best qualities of which are superseding German wool.
