To the -Editor of the lAjttelton Times. Sic, —This morning, on walking over to Jackson's Ferry, on my "way to Christchurch, I requested him to put me over in the boat. He asked me where was my canoe ? I replied, at home, when he said he should not put me across. I then had to go back a distance of a mile, to fetcli my own canoe to ferry myself over. Sir, lam a poor man, and I have freauently taken my canoe to save the ferry. I, like a good many more, trust Jo the mercy of this man, whether he likes, or likes not to put me over, in doing my busmesss in and out of Christchurch in one day. I have to make two days of it, through this man's surly conduct. Many besides myself have to complain of the surly behaviour of this man. This ought to be taken notice of in high auarters. ■",'.. ... .. I am, Sir, „. . Your obedient servant, William Harris. Kaiapoi, 24th Oct., 1856.
