PROVINCIAL PARODIES, No. 1. ■ Provincial funds *ore falling fast, W'ircn so the Coonri! Ghamber pi^irod A man who hold, in red tape tkd, A paper with these words outside— Railroadior! His mouth half grinned; his ey*,'with a wink, Flashed like a blot of bright red ink; And, lile a sung by GrUi sting, This'word flowed from his well oiled tongue— "ilailroanliof'" In members 1 eyes he saw tha doubt, Th<? objection so his scheme peep out. Within, The Guasd lok a shone, And he replied, still pressing on, " Railroadior!" " Trrnot fte tonsisl," 6\d hands sai3, " Lonte hang the boulders over head: The work is ionsr, and the cost is high!' " Hang the expense*7 was his reply; " Railroadior!" " Oh! stay thee,"Christrhurch cried, " and spend Thy surplus cash upon this end !" A menial thumb «-cnt to his nose, la mute reply this word he shows—• Uailroadior. " Bevrare the rO3d olonsr the tide! Beware the hole in the hiU's inside!"
