SIMPLE DIVISION.
At a meeting of the Mount Barker District Council, as reported in the 'Adelaide -Observer,' the folloAving resolution was adopted:— " Resolved ' that three more men ' should be employed, and ' that half of them' should go on with the repairs along the Bald Hills-roud, while the others repaired Cameroustreet and the other places about the township." Fancy a man and a half employed in metalline the roads in one locality, Avhile'the other man. and the other moiety of'a man, Avere distributed —according to some incomprehensible principle of disintegration or übiquity—over f Cameronstreet and the other places about the toAvnship.' "What an indestructible vitality. must inhere in the road makers of South Australia, when they can be thus bisected, and each section of the ' human fork ' made available, notwithstanding the operation, for labouring asses !
