The Southern Members' Ball.—During the present winter, the bachelors and beaux-esprits of the good city of Auckland have given two balls,-at which they have been favoured with the presence of the Representatives and other visitors -from the South; and both were pronounced to be very successful affairs. The Southern Members, in returning the.compliment, will have the good fortune and honor of receiving their guests in the New Governnment House, the use of which for the occasion has been most courteously and considerately: granted by his Excellency Governor Gore Browne. Cards have been issued for next Thursday, the 17th instant; and there can be no doubt that Mr. Hall of Canterbury—who has undertaken the duties of honarary secretary-—will, with the artistic aid of some of his brother Southerners, sue-: ceed in making the decorative and cenatory arrangements as perfect as they were at the Governor's late ball.— New Zealander.
