Arrived in Akaroa on Monday evening, the 7th day of July, 1856, the U. S. Ship MUo,of 401 tons, George H. Sowle, commander, on a Whaling voyage from (and belonging to) the pent of New Bedford, Mass.: whence she sailed on the Sih day of November, 1855. This ship has obtained SOO barrels ot .'-perm and 100 barrels of whale oil, to the southward and eastward of Bank's Peninsula. Since parting company on the 9th of June from the U. S. Ship Mount Wo I las ton, W. K. Potter Commander, has raised whale several times and killed two large sperm, yielding 190 barrels. On the 6th of January, 1856, spoke off the " CrozeUs'' the U. S. S. Concordia, of Sag Harbour, Mo Cockle, commander, 90 days out, :.'. clean ship.
•f The commander of the Milo intends iv the event of being able to find suitable premises, to land a large portion of his stores under B.md, and make Auaioa his head quarters, visiting the prnt from time to lime as his good fortune »ud exigences may requite. It is gratifying to find that the privileges lately accorded to this port are likely to he so speedily appreciated by our Trans-atlauiic friends, and it is a tangible proof how much it would enohance our commercial interests and general welfare if a vessel devoted to this enterprise of whaling was to be added to the increasing tonnage of Port Victoria.
