Province of Canterbury to Wit : — WHEREAS a Writ, under the hand of James Edward Fitz Gerald, Esqr., Superintendent of the said Province, bearing date the 17th day of June, in the year of our Lord, one thousand eiuht. bundled and fifty-six, hath been directed to me, Charles Christopher Bowen, E*q , as Returningofficer for the Town of Lyttelton, in the said Province, commanding me to cause an election to be held for the return of a mem|||?,to serve in the Provincial Council for the Town of Lyttelton, aforesaid, in the room of Henry Sewell, Esq., resigned ; NOW, therefore, Thereby give notice, that a public meeting of the electors of the Town of Lyttelton, will be holden at the Police office, in the town of Lyttelton, on Friday, fhe 25th day of July next, at noon, for the purpose of nominating One Person, to serve as a member of the Provincial Council for the town of Lyttelton : and in the event of a poll being demanded for the candidates or any of them, such polling shall take place on Saturday, the 26th day of July, next, at the said Police offices.
