Welt-ixgtox.—The latest quotation for wheat we find in the " Independent" of April 26, where it is quoted at from Us. to lls. 6d. per bushel ; flour at and Generally speaking, commercial operations seem to have been somewhat temporarily disturbed by the fire. The " Spectator" of the 7th of May reports that several cargoes of wheat and flour had been received coastwise during the week.

Auckland is badly supplied with wheat, in consequence of the Maories declining to sell at the present prices, which range from 7s. to 9s. per bushel. The coasting trade had been much depressed, and in consequence several of the craft have been laid up, or were about to be so. A large cargo of potatoes, from Auckland, had been sold at Melbourne for -sTS per ton. A correspondent of the " New Zealander" states that large crops of this root had been grown iv Victoria this season, but of a description that would not keep. At present the Melbourne market was plentifully supplied by those grown in the colony ; all coming from other parts was iv excess of wants, ami were chiefly bonght for storage at a low figure. It was expected that the price of potatoes would ultimately rise; but that the large yields throughout New Zealand wonld still keep the figure comparatively low.

Neison.—ln a list of " Wholesale Prices Current," given in the " Examiner" of the 26th ultimo, we find flour (N.Z.) quoted at from jfi'i to jfib per ton ; wheat from 7s. Cd. to Bs. fid. per bushel ; barley 7s. to 7k. fid. ; oats 3s. 6d. to 4s. Potatoes j£4 to £\ 10.-. per ton. Bacon (colonial) ]>•. 3d. to Is. fid. per Ih. ; butter Is. 6d. to Is. Bd. per Ib. in 56-lb. kegs; cheese Is. 3d. to Is. 6d. per lb. All kinds of foreign goods were scarce in Nelson at this date.
