On Thursday nitrht the House was further adjourned in order that the period necessary, namely, twenty-eight days of publication in the " Provincial Gazette." should be allowed for the proposed alteration in the Land Regulations. "Many gentlemen in the Hou?e nre of opinion that the question of pre-emption is one not to he trifled with, and that adjournment may be very usefully occupied in preparing for a wise conclusion on this subject. The Public House Bill was j\=ad a third time, and, as it now stands, is a measure not in the least calculated to inflict any hardship on the publican, or to put any unfair obstacle in the way of his carrying on his business. In fact, upon the whole, it bears a very close resemblance to former enactments, and we now have the advantage of finding all '.lie laws relative to publichouses in one chapter. In the old law there was, in our opinion, not much to find fault | with, aiid it must be remembered that good administration is necessary to make even amendments felt.
