I.yttei.ton.— Election of Chubchwar- ' dexs and Assessor. —At a meeting; of the congregation attending the temporary church at Lyttelton, holden on Monday evening Jast (in piusuanee of advertisement), for the election of Wardens for the ensuing year, and for the appointment of an Assessor for the Province, Dr. Donal d was nominated as the Incumbent's warden, and Messrs. Gundry and Bayfeild were elecied by the meeting. On the motion of Mr. Spowevs, H. Sewell, Esq., was eh-cied Assessor by the meeting. The Rev. the Incumbent occupied the chair. We understand that the Province is indebted to -Messrs. Cookson, Bowler, & Co., and Messrs. Wait!, Hargreaves, fc Co,, for the first direct transmission of wool to London. We doubt not that next year the same advantage on an extended scale will be secured by the spirited firms who have led the way in" this onward movement. One half even of this year's clip of v.-oul will have to be sent home via Australia ; no ether vessel having been laid on for I England direct.
