Aeriyal of the Whaler " Eli^tot C. Cowms," in Akakoa. —On the 21st. March, the United States barque " Elliott C. Cowdin," 285 tons. Capiain Thomas S. Bailey, arrived in Akaroa harbour on a whaling voya«;e irom South Dartmouth, Massachusetts, to which port she belongs, and from whence she sailed on the 9t,h of October, 1855. This vessel called at Pernambtico and left again on the 12th of December. Spoke, on Use 28th day of February. off Cape Leewin, XV. Australia, the '"'Texas,' 1 United Slates barque, of New York, from Aielbouriie, boiu.d to Calcutta. Reports a ship ab nit W.S.TV. of Akaroa Heads 2.0 miles, on the morning: of the 2lst hist, apparently a whaler Whales very scarce and wild ; has only taken one sperm, yielding 59 barrels, which were transhipped at Fayal, on board \he United Slates barque" Ae;re," bound to New York. Alt well on board.
