Colonial News.

The " Spray" brings Sydney papers to the Ist instant, but we find no later English intelligence than that received by the John Bull, via Melbourne. Rear-Admiral Parker King, by birth an Australian, died of apoplexy on the 26th of February, having fallen down in a fit, near his own gate, and immediately expired. We have only space to-day for the following quotations on the grain trade at Sydney. The Sydney Horning Herald of February 29th says :—

" Flour.—The flour market is declining, in consequence of large supplies from Adelaide to the extent of fmm 500 to 600 tons weekly, and by frequent arrivals from Chili, whence it had been supposed the supply had ceased. The consequence has been that a rapid fall has taken place ; and Chilian may now he quoted at £26, and Adelaide to £28 10s. Haxall and Gallego have also declined, and may be quoted at from £3 to £3 os. Further arrivals from Chili may be expected still more to depress the market. It is computed that from twenty to twenty-five thousand tons will be shipped for here from Adelaide, during the course of theyear. A Melbourne mercantile house remarks: " There is a disposition on the part of the millers to put the price of flour down. We are willing that any change in the price should be legitimate, but not that so important an article should be effected by the few who, for personal reasons, prematurely affect the market here.''

The same paper of the Ist of March gives the following1 prices under the heading of the report for the 29th nit.: —Wheat, 10s. per bushel ; flour (Colonial or Chilian), £27 to £30 per ton ; barley, 3s. to os. per bushel ; oats,4s. to s>. do. ; cheese, lOcl. to Is. per lb. ; bacon, 10(1. to Is. do.; butter, Is. 3d. to Is. (nl. do.

A cargo of flour from Valparaiso is reported in the same paper to have been sold, on (he 29 ih ultimo, for something less than £2G. The range appears to be from £25 10s. to £30.
