Mekttng of Church Property Tiutstkes. — A meeting of the Church Trustees was held in the temporary church. Christchurch, the Yen. Archdeacon of Aknroa in the chair. The report of the Managing Committee in regard to the arrangement with Mr. Sewell as to the transfer of the Church Lands was read. Mr. Sewell, who was present at the meeting, gave full information us to his proposed intentions in transferring all interest now held by the Canterbury Association in the Church lands, to the Church trustees. Mr. Sewell also gave many suggestions to the meeting for their guidance, and for the per fectingall title ofthe Trustees to the property by'a legislative enactment. The meeting then adjourned to Tuesday, the lßth inst., when the returns from the various parishes shewing the amount contributed severally towards the stipends of the clergy, will be received; and the apportionment of the year's income to the several parishes will take place.

Our Annual races came oft*on Wednesday and Thursday last, 01 the Race Course near Christchurch. Our report has not yet reached us, but from other sources we have gleaned the following result of the different heats. On Wednesday, the "Hurdle Race" (the first contended for) was won by Mr. Caverhill's g. h. War Eagle. The •* Canterbury Cup " was not run for. The " Licensed Victuallers' Plate." contested by the Knight of the West (Cruiskeen), Lady Gladsione. end Young Charlie, was won by the Knight of the West. The " Hack Stakes " was won by Mr. Prebble's Nancy. beating- Mr. Pollard s Young okeleton, aiid several others. On Thursday, For the " Jockey Club Plate' there was no runninsr, Air. f-au-rence"s b. g. Canterbury .Jack, walking over the course. The "Ladies Purse" was won by Mr, Tinner's Auckland Jack. The " Pkite" was not run for. The " Consolation Stakes" was won by Destiny : and the '■ Forced Handicap"' was walked over for by .Mr. Lt'e's Tamerlane.
