GENERAL ASSEMBLY ELECTIONS. Kai Zealand to wit,—Province of Canterburij. WHEREAS a Writ, under the hand of Thomas Gore Browne,E-quire, Companion of the most honourable Order of the Balb, Governor and Commander in chief in aud over the islands of New Zealand, &c, &c, bearing date the Fifteenth day of September, in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and fifty-five, haih been directed to me, Cuarlks Christopher Bowen, Esquire, as Returning Officer for the Christchurch Country District, requiring and commanding me to cause to be elected, by and from amongst the voters duly qualified for that purpose, freely and indifferently, and in manner and form by law prescribed, Two Persons to serve asmembeis of the House of Representatives, for the Christchnrch Country District, the General Assembly of New Zealand having been dissolved; Now, therefore, I, the said Charles Christopher Bowen, Esquire, Returning Officer for the Christchurch Country District, do hereby in pursuance of the said recited writ, give nolice that a public meeting of the Electors of the Christchurch Country District, will be holden- in the Market Place of tbe town of Chrislchurcb, on Tuesday, the 18tb day of December next, at noon, for tbe purpose of nominating Two Persons to serve as members of the House of Representatives, for the Christchurch Country District, and in the event of a poll, being demanded for the candidates or any of them, such polling shall take place on Thursday, the 20lh day of December uext, in the lobby of the Provincial Council Chamber, at Christchurch, in tbe Police Office at Lyttelton, „nd at Mr. Black's store, Kaiapoi; tbe voting lo 'commence at any time after nine o'clock, a.m., of the said day, and to close at four o'clock, p.m.. of the same day.
