[advertisement.] To the Editor of the Lyttelton Times. My dsar Mr. Editor. —What a funny fellow our friend " John Ollivier "is ! Not content with winning golden opinions and votes from all sides, first, as a red-hot Tory, and next as a jet black Radical; he now rushes into print in defence of the much abused public, and laments with hi's usual eloquence the sad want of " reporting skill " displayed in the newspaper reports. The fact, lamentably true in itself, sounds rather oddly corning from the only paid Reporter in this Province, from the man whose habits of drawing amusing caricatures during the Provincial debates, was as notorious as the care with which he afterwards reported his own speeches, or the care (or carelessness as the case may be,) with which he misreported the speeches of his political opponents. That such a man, Mr. Editor should have penned such a letter is comical.indeed, and —•Suiti leave no doubt on any sane mind that the worthy gentleman must be an active member of a " pretty stiff Nobbier party " somewhere or other. Pray, Mr. Editor, would it be a breach of professional secrecy, if you inform the public whether the aforesaid worthy is the original ofthe celebrated bird who incontinently fouled his own nest !
