The Lyttelton Times.
Wednesday, Dec. 5. An Otago paper of the 241h ult, has come to hand by the " Esther," containing i.n account of Capt. CargilTs re-election to the Superintendency of that Province without opposition, and the addresses of several candidates for elections to seats in the new Council. The nomination for the House of Representatives is advertised to take piece on the 11th inst., but we do not observe any announcement of the candidates. By the " Mountain Maid" we have Wellington papers to the 28th ult., and New Plymouth to the 14th ult. Some extracts from these papers of local interest will be found below. The press of advertisements in our columns prevents our noticing to-day more fully the electioneering news from 'These Provinces, but we hope to do so on Saturday. No later English intelligence of importance had been received. The ".Mountain Maid" spoke the "William and Jane," from England, in the Stiaits, and the " William and Alfred," from Sydney. It is rumoured that theve vessels had brought intelligence^ the capture of Sweaborg by tlie Allied fleets.
