LOCAL INTELLIGENCE.
To the Editor of the Lyttelton Times. Sir, —I shall feel obliged by your publishing the enclosed letter which I have received from the Bishop of New Zealand. I am, Sir, Your very obedient servant, Oct. Mathias. Taranaki, 17th August, 1855. Rev. and Dear Sir, May I request you to give notice of my intention, God willing, to visit Canterbury, in the course of the month of November next ensuing, and to hold confirmations at all the principal churches and chapels. It is my desire also to hold Church meetings at as many places as may be thought expedient with a view to carrying out the system of Church Constitution proposed to be adopted in New Zealand, and generally for the extension and better organization of the Parochial and Diocesan action of the Church. On these points I wish to ascertain in the clearest and fullest manner the wishes of the settlers. I remain, Your faithful friend and brother, G. A. New Zealand. The Rev. O. Mathias.
