I am aware that I have no past services to record to justify me in taking this step, but having resided amongst you for about three years, the least I can say is that I am no stranger to you. If you think fit to elect me as your vepresen tative, I will pledge myself to attend the sittings of the Assembly ; and when there, I will use my best abilities, regardless of personal considerations, to promote the welfare and interest of the colony, aud of this province in particular. The limits of an address will not permit me to comment upon many questions of political moment, but at a future opportunity I hope to give you every satisfactory assurance.
