Communication with Australia. —Her Majesty's Government have officially intimated lhat the Post-office authorities have under consideration the renewal of a regular steam communication with Australia. This announcement has given great satisfaction to the Australian trade. The Want of a regular and quicker sjs-

tern of communication between England and Australia has been very much felt, and has given occasion for great dissatisfaction on both sides. The late serious disturbances at Ballaarat hive, however, forced on the attention of the Government the necessity, or at least expediency, to the political interests of England, of a better and more regular interchange of communication. The colonies are willing and ready to contribute towards the maintenance of a properly orgauised system of mail packot service, but in consequence of the difficulty hitherto experienced in maintaining prompt and satisfactory co-opera-tion from the Home Government in furtherance of their desires, they .ound it would be better to offer to private enterprise the remuneration they were willing to afford in the carrying out of a steam-packet service. It is now believed that the amount of the annual grant they are willing to give towards the object will be paid over to the Government, who will undertake to accomplish the objects required. The Home and Colonial Governments will, therefore, severally and collectively, contribute towards paying the expenses attending the establishment of a properly organised mail service by steam vessels, Morning Chronicle, March 31st.
