A NOTICE having appeared in the " Go- •^- vevnment Gazette," dated the 27th November, 1854, warning all persons not to encroach on the land reserved for public roads, by digging ditchts, or erecting hanks thereon ; and representations having been" made to thb Government by persons desirous of fencing in lands irontrng on the public roads, that they are willing to erect such fences as shall tend to improve the public road adjoining : His Honor the Su- '. perintendent directs it to.be further notified, that any person, who is desirous of erecting afence on the boundary of a public road, may, by application to the* Government, receive an order in writing from; the Provincial Engineer, stating what alteration's* he will be allowed xo make in the surface of the land reserved for the road adjoining his fence; and that any person encroaching on the public road by taking any soil therefrom, or erecting any bank there-' on,except so far as shall be set 'forth in such ■wrik«an order, will be prosecuted as the law directs. ~ By his EToiKir's command, For the Provincial Secretary, i T.
