CORRESPONDENCE.
To the Editor of the Lyttelton Times. Sir;—ln. answer to the article signed an Elector you will oblige by inserting the followingremarks. First your corespondent E having swallowed Lindley Murray and Johnson it is surpriseing that he should have made the mistake not to discover by his lame attemt to prove how uninteligable my address to the Electors is. That he proves how easey it is to understand the principall features of said address. I have never had the presiimtion in Public or privatetoassume myselfe to be a man of superior Education. But I contend that I have a sufficient knowledge ofthe English language to make myselfe understood by those who pretend the cannot compreendit. * E contends that I willnot protect the commercial interests of Lyttelton. I havenerer ceased to contend for its interests as I have in it the Property aquired by many yeais anc'ious Toill and perseverance. The same being the best of guarantee for its continuance. The other parts of E remarks I will reply to on the day of nominating?, and prove that I posess a knowledge of those measures best calculated to promote the prosperity of the Province. Yours, &c, C. Crwvfokd. [The above letter arrived too late for publication in our last issue. As we find that Mr. Crawford is inclined to be so touchy as he yesterday showed - himself on the subject of his treatment by the "Lyttelton Times," we have preferred printing lt exactly as it was sent in to us to making any such improvements in the spelling as (with the best intentions) wa made in his address to the iileccors.--^ GEn. L. T.] <*
