NOTICE. : Province of Canterbury to Wit :— 1 WBEREAS a writ under the hand of James Edward Fitz Gerald, Esq., Superin leudeut of the said Province, bearing date the 12ili day, of February, in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and fifty five, hath been directed to me, Charles Simeon, Esq., as renVhiing-officer for the town of Chrislchurch. in the said Province, requiring and commanding' me to cause to be elected by and from amongst the voters duly qualified for that purpose, freely j and"indifferently, and in form and manner by law prescribed, One Person to serre as a member of the Provincial Council for the town of Chrisichurch, in place of Thomas Cass, Esq., i resigned; NOW therefore, I, the said Charles Simeon, Esq., returning-officer for the:town of Christchurch, do hereby in pursuance of the said recited writ, give notice, that a public meeting of the electors of the town of Christchurch will be holden in the Market Place of the town of Ghristchurch; on Thursday, the Bth day of March, next, at noon, for the purpose of nominating one person to serve; as a member of the Provincial Council for the town of Christchurch : and in the event of a poll being.deV manded for the candidates or any of them, such polling shall take place ou Friday, the 9th day of March next; in the )obby of the Pro- j vincial Council .Chamber at Christchurch.
