Province of Canterbury to Wit: 'TJH'HEBEAS a Writ under the hand of VV James Ed ward Fitz Gerald, Esq., Superintendent of the said Province, bearing date the 15ih day of February in the year of Ouv Lord One Thousand Eight Hundred and Fifty Five, has been directed to ihe, John Watson, Esq., as Returning'-b/ficer for the district of Akaroa, in the said Province, requiring and commanding me to cause to be elected by and from amongst the voters duly qualified for that purpose, freely and indifferently, and in manner and form by law prescribed, Two Persons to serve as members of the Provincial Council for the district of Akaroa, Now therefore I, the said John Watson, Esq., Returning-Officer for the" district of AkaToa, do hereby, in pursuance of the said recited Writy give hotice, that ap v blic meeting of the electors of the aforesaid district will be held at Akaroa, in tbe Police office, on Friday, the 16th diiy of March, at noon ■ for the purpose of nominating Two Peisons to, serve as members of the Provincial Council for the dis-; trict of Akaroa, and in the event of a poll being demanded for the candidates,'or either of them, such polling shall take place on Saturday, the 17th day of March in the Police Office at Akaroa.
