NOTICE. Province of Canterbury to Wit: — WHEREAS a writ under the hand of James Edward Fitz Gerald, Esq., Superintendent of the said Province, bearing date the 12ih day of February, in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and fifty five, Lath been directed to me, Charles Simeon, Esq. as returning-officer for the town of Christchurch in the said Province, requiring and commanding me to cause tote elected by and frcm amongst the voters duly-qualified for*that purpose, freely and indifferently, and in form and manner by law prescribed, One Person to serve as a member of -.the Provincial Council for the town of ChTistcimrch, in place of Thomas Gass,,EsQ., resigned; NOW therefore, I, the said Charles , Simeon, Esq., returning-oflicer for the town of Christchurch, do hereby in pursuance of the said recited >vrit, give, notice, that a public meeting of the electors of the town of Christchurch will be holden in the Market Place of the town of Christchurch, on Thursday, the Bih day . of March, next, at Boon, for the purpose of no- \ minating one person to serve as a member of [ the Provincial Council for the town of Christchurch : and in the event of a poll being demanded for the candidates or any of them, such polling shall take place on Friday, the 9th day of March next; in the lobby of the Pro- • -rh:c"al Council Chamber at Christchurch.
