HPHE Provincial Government are prepared to enter into arrangements for the establishment of Steam'communication between Lyttelton and the Plains in one of the following ways. Firstly-, by the grant of a bonus to any person or company who shall establish such communication, calculated on the loss likely to be sustained. Secondly, by guaranteeing a certain rate of dividend on the capital embarked in the undertaking. Thirdly, by advancing a part of the capital required. Capitalists who are disposed to carry put the views of the Government upon any of the conditions above described, are requested to send in tenders to this office, containing full particulars of the terms on which they, propose to act.
