The Maiden Plate of 20 soys., added to a Sweep stakes of 3 soys. each ; second horse to save his stake ; for all horses that have never won an advertised race, where more than 20 soys. of public money was given (matches excepted ). T. C. . weights. One mile and a half. The Victuallers' Plate of 40 soys., added to a Sweepstakes of 5 soys. each; second horse to save his stake. T. C. P. weights. Three miles. The Selling Stakes of 3 soys. each, 20 soys. added ; second horse to save his stake ; the winner to be sold for 100 soys.; if entered, to' be sold for 90 soys., to be allowed 7 lbs ; if for '80 soys., 14 lbs ; if for 70 soys., 21 lbs; if for 60 soys., 28 lbs.; if for 50 soys., 35 lbs.; if for 40 soys., 42 lbs. T. C. P. weights. Heats, once round and a distance. The winner to be sold by auction, open to the public, within half an hour of the race; the surplus, if any, to go to the race fund. The Port Stakes of 3 soys. each, p.p., 20 soys. added by the Turf Club, for the produce of mares covered in Nelson in the season of 1850-51, to run at the Nelson Autumn Meeting, 1855. Second horse to save his stake. Colts, Bst. 71bs.; fillies, Bst. 31bs. The winner to give one dozen of port to the club. One mile. Wednesday, March 7. The Welter Platje of 30 Soys. added to a handicap sweepstakes of 4 soys. h ft., horses to be named to the Secretary of the Turf Club on or before the first of March, and to be handicapped by the Stewards or whom they may appoint. Heats. One and a half mile. The Watbatj Plate of o soys. added to a Sweepstakes of half a sovereign each, for hacks ; second horse to save his stakes. No horse entered for any race where 10 soys. is added to be allowed to start. Catch weights. Heats. Once round. The Hack Stakes, of 5 shillings each, with 3 6ovs. added, for all hacks : last horse to pay the second horse's stake. The winner of the Wairau Plate not to be allowed to start. Catch weights. Once round.
Thursday, March 8. The Turf Club Plate of 50 soys. added to a sweepstakes of 6 soys. each ; second horse to save his stake; for 3 yrs. old, But. 9 lbs ; four, 9st. 131b5.; five, lOst. 71bs.; six and aged, lOst. lOlbs.; 41bs. allowed to mares and geldings. Two miles. The Shearer's Purse of 20 soys. added to a sweepstakes of 4 soys. each ; for three years old, 9st. 91bs.; four, lOst. 131b5.; five, list. 7lbs ; six and aged, list. 10 lbs.; 41bs. allowed to mares and geldings. The winner of the Vie tuallers'Plate, the Ladies' Purse, or Turf Club Plate, to carry 7 lbs. extra. Once round and a distance. The Scurry Stakes of 3 soys. each, 20 soys. added; second horse to ?ave his stake. T.C.P. weights, 4 lbs. to mares ami geldings.
