NOTICE is hereby given- that all Runs granted for the depasturing of Stock within the Canterbury Block will be considered as open for re-selection unless the license for the same be renewed by payment of the rent within one month after it has become due. HIS HONOR THE SUPERINTENDENT directs it to be notified that all persons who shall henceforth encroach on the land reserved for public roads within the Province, either by digging ditches, or raising banks thereon, will be prosecuted, and that those persons who have already so encroached will be liable at any time to be called on to replace the soil so removed or to remove the banks so made. TT^HE Provincial Government are prepared to enter into arrangements for the establishment oF Steam communication between Lyttelton and the Plains in one of the following way's. Firstly, by the grant of a bonus to any person or company who shall establish such comMnunication, calculated on the loss likely to be sustained. Secondly, by guaranteeing a certain rate of dividend on the capital embarked in the undertaking. Thiidly, by advancing a part of the capital required. Capitalists who are disposed to carry out tlie views of the Government upou any of the conditions above described, are requested to send in tenders to this office, containing full particulars of the terms on which they propose to act.
