"Leading Article " is a beautiful Dark Brown Horse, free from white, now rising- six years old, with an excellent constitution. " Leading Article,' was /baled at Nelson, where he won the Legev in 1852, beating Mr. Timlin's Gipsey Queen, and on the following day, the Ladies' Purse, beating Mr. Newcomb's mare Vesta, and Mr. Godfrey's horse Silver Tail, Leading Article carrying 13 lbs. overweight: distance, one mile and"3l>l> yards; run in 2 minutes and 21 seconds. Leading Article was trained for the Nelson races in 1853, and was the favourite for the Victualler's Purse of 3 miles against Mr. Redwood's celebrated horse Glancus, and Mr. Newcomb's horse Joe Miller, but broke down in the race through an injury he had sustained in the Fetlock joint, notwithstanding, tunning a good second with Glaucus.
