CORRESPONDENCE.

To the Editor of the Ly Helton Times. Sir,—l do not by any means slight Mr. Sewell's recommendation to " a charitable construction of motives and conduct," but he will forgive me perhaps for reminding him that it is also a main point of charity to be careful not to charge others with what they have not clone. lam not aware that I have anywhere " imputed bad motives" to Mr. Sewell, and I am certain that I have not anywhere accused him of a " sacrilegious waste of Church Funds." Will your correspondent " Expectant" also excuse me for hinting that if he is sincerely desirous to promote " a courteous tone anil conuiliatory spirit," he would do well to show an example of these qualities in his own letters. Let him cease from uncourteous and unwarrantable attacks upon the Trustees, which are likely enough to " lead only to quarrel and controversy." Why should not the Trustees themselves be treated with some share of that courtesy ami conciliation which your correspondent recom-mends-to them? Charity does not consist in bidding others be charitable, but in showing the way. But let us not " stand upon the order" of conciliating, but begin at once. It will doubtless be good for v* all, and for the Church at large. I therefore accept, " Expectant's" recommendation, and am most anxious lo join in the endeavour to bring about some practicable adjustment of the real difficulties which beset our task. I am, Sir, Your obedient Servant, ,_,, . UiiKuy Jacobs. Chruitchnreh, Hth November, 1854.
