TO OUR READERS.
Since the meeting of the General Assent, bly the Lyttelton Times has been published twice a tveek for the convenience of our readers and the public. Considerable expense and trouble has been gone to, to ascertain the requirements of the Settlement, and its toilline/ness to support the publication twice a week of an old acquaintance immediately after the rise of a second Journal. We are satisfied that the Province is not only able and willing to support an extension of Journalism, but that the extra number we have been lately publishing would be missed by a large number of our readers. The Lyttelton Times will therefore be published hereafter twice a week, on Wednesdays and Saturdays. Instead of the twelve pages on Saturdays, we shall be able to publish eight pages twice a week, together with a supplementary sheet whenever the arrival of important intelligence may require it. For the present the Wednesday number will still somewhat partake of a supplementary character. The price of the paper will be in future ninepence for the two weekly numbers : sixpence for a single number. Subscriptions, yearly, £\ Us. 6d.; half-yearly, 165.; quarterly, Bs.
