THE Undersigned begs to announce that on and after this date, lie will be ready to hold an Auction Sale any Saturday at his Booms in Chvistchurch, when parties having any description of Stock, Produce, or Merchandise, for Sale, can effect the same on application to J. Lokgden. WEEKLY SALE by AUCTION Of Cattle, Horses, &c, at Christchurch. MR. ALPORT begs to inform Stockowners and others, that he intends holding a Public Auction, Weekly, on Saturday (being Market-day), at the Golden Fleece Hotel, Christchuvch, for the Sale of Stock, Merchandise, &c. N.B. Parties desirous of submitting Stock, &c. to Public Competition will oblige by signifying the same on or before the previous Thursday. Ex "'Prima Donna." 2 CASES and 1 Bale of Drapery and Slops, consisting of: — Corduroy and fustian trowsers Corduroy and Moleskin in the piece Horrock's long cloth and other calicoes Hargreaves' prints in great variety Single and double width grey calico Ladies' and children's kid and thread gloves Grey, white, and black worsted, in skeins 3 hhds. of Hollow and Tinware, containing— Iron tea kettles and saucepans Oval and round boilers, 3 to 7 gallons Block tin tea pots, assorted sizes Wash hand basins, milk pans, cullenders Pannikins, pepper boxes, flour dredges, &c. Bedroom and other candlesticks Eack, and small tooth combs Cross-cut and hand saws A lot of sugars, teas, and other Groceries. And to arrive per 'Norman Morrison' and ' Thetis' direct from the Manufactories. 12 unites of crockery ware, containing an assortment of most useful articles too long to enumerate. 3 cases of the well known Cookham Boots and Shoes, consisting of upwards of 1000 pairs of assorted men's, women's and children's. 1 case of assorted hosiery and drapery 11 kegs "John Hall's" well known red canister rifle Gunpowder, with metallic stoppers and measures 11 kegs " John Hall's" FFF. Gunpowder 1 ton of shot, assorted, Nos. I—4.1 —4. The above will be sold in lots to suit purchasers. Gould and Mitres. To stand this Season, At the Royal Hotel, Christchurck, rpHE thorough bred horse " LEADING ARTICLE," by Brunette. Leading Article is a beautiful dark brown horse, free from white, now rising six years old, with an excellent constitution. Leading Article was foaled at Nelson, where he won the Leger in J852, beating Mr. Timlin's Gipsey Queen, and on the following day, the Ladies' Purse, beating Mr. Newcomb's mare Vesta, and Mr. Godfrey's horse Silver Tail, Leading Article carrying 13 lbs. over weight: distance, one mile and 366 yards; run in 2 minutes and 21 seconds. Leading Article was trained for the Nelson races in 1853, and was the favourite for the Victualler's Purse of 3 miles against Mr. Redwood's celebrated horse Glaucus, and Mr. Newcomb's horse Joe Miller, but broke down in the race through an injury he had sustained in the Fetlock joint, notwithstanding, running a good second with Glaucus. Terms, £5 ss. each mare, payable the 4th of January. To Stand this Season. At Ham Farm, fFIHE Clydesdale Horse CANTERBURY, J- imported by J. C. Watts Bussell, Esq., stands 16 hands and a half, 7 yrs. old. His sire, " Young Scotsman," gained several prizes in the Comity Ayr. His grands ire, "Scotsman," gained the two first prizes in the Highland Agricultural Show. Terms, jg4 4s. —ss. the Groom.
