SHIPPING NEWS.
ARRIVED. August 16, cutter Catherine Ann, 13 tons, Clifford, from Wellington. Passengers, Messrs. J. F. Svvinbourne, McKay, and Christie. CLEARED OUT. August 11, brigantine Despatch, 139 tons, Rogers, for Port Levy, to ship produce for Melbourne. IMPORTS. In the Catherine Ann, —tea, drapery, oilmen's stores, bottled beer, paper, looking glasses, saws, spirits, jar, cutlery, 94 bags flour, and half ton bacon. Our attention has been called to our allusion in Wednesday's paper to the state of the cutter, " Catharine Anne." The reason we gave for the non-arrival of the mails from Wellington, although currently reported, is contradicted. We have been informed that the vessel was too full ot cargo to bring the whole mail, which measures above a ton, and that the offer of the person in charge to bring the bags containing the letters only, was declined by the Post-office authorities. The " Catharine Ann," in her passage to Wellington was somewhat damaged by the gales of wind, but has been since repaired at Wellington.
