AT the Koyal Hotel Christchurch, the thorough bred horse "LEADING ARTICLE" by Sir Charles, out of Brunette. " Leading1 Article" is a handsome dark brown horse, free from white, now rising six years old with an excellent constitution. Leading Article was foaled at Nelson, where he won the Leger in 1852, beating Mr. Timlin's Gipsey Queen, and on the following day, the Ladies' purse, beating Mr. Godfrey's horse Silvertail, and Mr. Newcome's mare Vesta; Leading Article carrying 131bs over weight: distance one mile 366 yards, run in 2m. 21s. Leading Article was trained for the Nelson races in 1853, and was the favorite for the victualler's purse, 3 miles, against Mr. Redwoods celebrated horse Glaucus, and Mr. Newcomes horse Joe Miller, but broke down in the race through an injury he had sustained m «>J fetlock; notwithstanding, running a gou« second with Glaucus.
