NOTICE TO CORRESPONDENTS.
Correspondent in last week's paper calls; our attention to the omission of the retail prices of Lyttelton from our columns. The reason for withdrawing ibem is simple ; they could not be depeuded upon. No trouble was spared to obtain a correct list, altered to the current week, yet the difference of prices was found to be so very great, that any statement we gave proved mischievous rather than serviceable to purchasers. Several complaints have also been received of the inaccuracies of the statements inserted front time tovtime of the reported transactions at the market held at Christchurch. Now the demand upon our columns is too great to allow us to keep on repeating week after week a long list of supposed prices: when we can obtain a list that will be really serviceable to our readers, it shall be regularly given.—The same correspondent also complains of the price of butchers' meat as compared with Christchurch. From enquiries we find the sole reason for the extra charge is the expense and labour of driving cattle over the hills* into Lyttelton.
