Registry of Births.

When a child is born in any house the Father, Mother, or occupier of the house, must give notice of such birth to the Deputy Registrar of the District within 42 days. Within such 42 days the Father or Mother, or in case of their death, illness, absence or inability, the occupier of the house, must give information upon being requested to do so, to the Deputy Registrar, of the several particulars required to be registered. The birth of a child may be registered after the 42 days upon the solemn declaration of any person present at the birth of the several particulars required to be registered. If any child be baptized or named after the birth shall have been registered, the parents or guardian, or other person causing such name to be given, must within 7 days deliver to the Deputy Registrar a certificate signed by the minister baptizing the child, or the Deputy Registrar before whom the name shall have been given. The name Can then be added in the Register. The registry must be signed by the person giving the information, together with his description and place of abode. Fees to be paid fob registering births. —No fee is payable if the required notice be given within 42 days; ten shillings and sixpence if the registry be made after 42 days; one shilling to the Minister or Deputy Registrar giving a certificate of the naming of a child whose birth has been previously registered; one shilling to the Deputy Registrar for adding such name to the registry. Fines for not registering, or wrongliV REGISTERING ANY BIRTH. For not giving notice of a birth within 42 days, £10. For knowingly registering a birth after 42 days, except as provided by the Ordinance, £50. For registering any birth after six months therefrom, £50. ,* For a Deputy Registrar's refusing, or without reasonable clause omitting to register any birth, £50.
