PUBLIC NOTICE. WHEREAS several applications have been made at this office to purchase Town Land in Christchurch out of the Town Reserves, reserved by the late Canterbury Association for the extension of the town, I hereby give notice that the said Reserves will at once be laid out in half acre sections, and that a public auction, subject to the same conditions and terms of purchase as were adopted by the late Canterbury Association, will be held at the Land Office, Christchurch, for the sale of a portion of such, town land, on Saturday the ] 3th day of May next. Persons desirous of purchasing any particular section may have the same included in the list for sale, by making application in writing to that effect at this office, on or before Saturday the 6th day of May next. To give effect to such application, it will be necessary to deposit the upset price of each section, viz., twenty-four pounds (£24), on or before the same day. William Guise Brittan. Ly.ttelton, respectfully intimates to the inhabitants of Christchurch, that it is his intention to open on Monday, March 6th, a branch of his business on those premises lately occupied by Mr. .Gibhs, as a General Store, &c, near the Land-office, which will at all times be well supplied with English and Colonial manufactured boots, shoes, leather, grindery, &c, of the very best quality, and at • the lowest prices. _ _________ SO many persons have come to my Bush under pretence of business, with the real purpose of crimping my labourers,.that I am under the necessity of warning all strangers coming here that they will be treated as trespassers, if they do not communicate to me the obiect of their visit.
