NOTICE. Registrar-General's Office, Christchurchi January r, 2nd, 1854. TV/TUCH inconvenience has been, expe--L**- rienced in this Office' in consequence of the original titles to lauds or qtlier properties not having, hv several instances, been registered before portions of them we're sold, or made subject to mortgages or other charges. Registering-^Original Deeds is optional; but intending purchasers of lands, as well as lenders of money upon them/are cautioned as to what may be the consequences to them of their not doing so. In many instances, portions of land have been sold, re-sold, sub-divided, sold again, or mortgaged, &c., without the original title deeds being registered. This must lead to much future trouble- andt litigation ; and.it is obvious that, any searqh into titled or with the view of ascertaining whether a property has any charge upon.it or not, is rendered most unsatisfactory. And besides, it is impossible to know what the original proprietor may have done with the property, or with any portions thereof. James Campbell, ■ Registrar-General, &c. FILBY & Co's and JOS.
