PUBLIC NOTICE. WHEREAS a Writ under the hand of His Excellency Sir George Grey, X.C.8., Governor and Commander-in-Chief, in and over the Islands of New Zealand, bearing date the fifth day of July, one thousand eight hundred and fifty-three, and under the Public Seal of the Islands of New Zealand aforesaid, has been directed to me, Charles Simeon, Esq., Besident Magistrate and Beturning Officer for the towns of Christchurch and Lyttelton, and for the Christchurch Country District, requiring me to cause to be elected, by and from among the duly qualified voters of the abovenamed diatricis, persons to serve as "Members" in the Provincial Council of the Province of Canterbury; to wit, for the town of Christchurch, three members; for the Ghristchurch Country District, four members; and for the Town of Lyttelton, three members: —Now therefore I, the said Charles Simeon, in pursuance of the said recited writ, give Notice that the days of Nominati-n and Polling shall be as follows :— The Notnim ion for the Town of Lytteltom shall be Bf *v uieading Room, at Lyttelton, at the ho- Don of Monday, the 29th August following; for the Town of Christchurch and the Christchurch Country District, at the hour of noon of Tuesday, the 30th August following, at the -Land Office, Christchurch. Polls shall be taken: For the Town of Lyttelton, at the Eesident Magistrate's Office, Lyttelton, between the hours of 9 o'clock, a.m., and 4 o'clock, p.m., of Wednesday, the 31st day of August following. For the Town of Christchurch, at the Eesident Magistrate's Office, Curistehurch, between, the hours of 9 o'clock, a.m., and 4 o'clock, p.m., of Saturday, the 3rd day of September following. For the Christchurch Country District, at the Eesident Magistrate's Office, Christchurch, between the hours of 9 o'clock, a.m., and 4 o'clock, p.m., of Saturday, the 10th day of September following. And whereas Notice was given in a Government Gazette, bearing date 29th March, by command of His Excellency the Governor that such place in the Town of Lyttelton shall be taken to be an additional Polling place for the Christchurch Country District as the Eeturning Officer shall specify, I hereby give notice that the Eesident Magistrate's Court shall be the Polling place so specified, and that Votes shall be taken at the said Polling place on the same day, and between the same hours, as at Christchurch. Dated at the Resident Magistrate's Office at Lyttelton, this 3d day of August, one thousand eight hundred and fifty-three. Charles Simeon, 8.M., Principal Beturning Officer. NOTICE. NOTICE is hereby given that from and after this date any person found cutting or removing wood or undergrowth from Eiecarton Farm, without leave, will be prosecuted as the law directs. Any one giving such information as will lend to the conviction of the oflenders will be rewarded. Biccarton, 2nd July, 1853. NOTICE, A MEETING of SHAREHOLDERS -£*~ in the proposed Company for establishing a public Flour Mill, in Ohristchurch, will be held at the Golden Fleece Hotel, Christchurch, on Saturday the 20th instant, for the purpose of appointing a Provisional Committee, and taking other necessary steps towards carrying out the undertaking. The Chair will be taken at Eleven o'clock precisely. Clitistctmrch, Aug.' 4,1853.
