Proposal for establishing a Literary and Scientific Institution at Christchurch. WE, the Undersigned, invite the attendance of persons desirous of promoting the above object at a Meeting to be held at the Grammar School, Christchurch, on Friday evening, the 9lh of July next, at 6 o'clock, when the following resolutions will be submitted :— 1. That an Institution of an exclusively Literary and Scientiiic character be established, to be called the Christchurch Athenaeum. 2. That subscriptions be entered into for the erection of a building for this purpose. 3. NORMAN beg-s to inform the • inhabitants of Lyttelton and Christchurch, that he intends travelling every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday from Lyttelton to Christchurch, leaving Mr. Genet's store, London-street, at 9 o'clock each morning, and returning from Christchurch at 3 o'clock on the same day, for the conveyance of letters, parcels, &c, at the following prices:— For every letter 3d. ; for every parcel under 5 lbs., Is.; above 5 lbs. and under 10 lbs., Is. 6d.; and above 10 lbs. and under 20 lbs., 2s. W. G. N. will leave Mr. Genet's store, on Monday morning next, where all orders are requested to be sent. REMOVAL OF CHRISTCHURCH MEWS. JACKSON & BENTLEY ~DEG to thank their friends and the -"-' public generally for the extensive patronage which they have already received, and regret to announce that they have been compelled to remove from their original stables } by the imposition of a rent, which they could not afford to pay. They have, however, arranged with the landlord of the WHITE HART IM, to occupy the excellent range of stabling now in the course of completion, adjoining that house, and to continue in connection with their Livery, Commission, and Bait Stables. A 'capital Stock Yard and Stable Yard are attached to the building, and no exertions will he spared to make their new establishment as complete as the old one. J. and B. have, in the meanwhile, fitted up a temporary stable, in the Dairy-shed, near the White Hart, lately occupied by Mr. Chisnall. The best description of forage, and the most careful attendance is provided as usual; Horses to let on hire. Horses and cattle bought and sold on commission. Colts broken in and trained to saddle or harness.
