NOTICE TO CORRESPONDENTS

In future, all communications to the editor of the Lyttelton Times must be left at the office befote Wednesday, Evening in order that they may be inserted in the paper of the following Saturday. No communication will receive any attention unless accompanied by the name and address of the author, not necessarily for publication, but as evidence of Ins good faith. We shall, at all times, be happy to receive communications on matters of local and general interest. We do not, however, undertake to hold ourselves responsible for the sentiments and opinions of those who may favour us with their communications. For the convenience of persons living at, or in the neighbourhood of Christchurch, a special messenger will leave Mr. Bishop's Store, in the Market-place, every Thursday morning at eight o'clock ; and all communications left at Mr. Bishop's before that time will be forwarded. Mr. Bishop is authorised to receive all payments on account of the Lyttelton Times. The lines ' What 'is a Puseyite .?" are Quite inadmissable. " The Shagroon's Consolation" is hardly up to the mark. The lines do not efficiently reply to the amusin* earnestness of the " Shagroon's Lament," which if, m its way, a gem of the first water.
