Entries for the Canterbury St. Leger Of one sovereign each (with 8-20ths of the Race Fund added), open to all.horses, weight for age; aged horses 11 stone, six years old 10 stone 7 lbs., five years old 10 stone. Any horse having won a race in the Canterbury settlement to carry 7 lbs. extra. 2-mile heats, the second horse to save his stake. Mr. Lee's black g., Tamerlane, aged, owner rider, • 11 stone 7 lb. Mr. Reeves' eh. m., Nine Elms, aged, Bentley rider, 11 stone. Messrs. Gartner and Ellis's b. g. Orlando, 6 years, Sullivan rider, 11 stone. Entries for the Gart-Horse Race Of one mile, 10s. each, (with 5-twentieths of the Race Fund added), open to all horses that have been regularly worked in harness for the last 3 months, owners to ride. Mr. Reid's b. g. Prince, Mr. Disher's g. g. Washington, Mr. Jagoe's r. m. Dairymaid. The Stewards appointed are Mr. Austen, Mr. 0. Turner, Mr. Thomson, Mr. Ellis, Dr. Richards. Judge, Mr. C. Bishop. Clerk of the Course, Mr. Jackson. Mr. G. Lee, Treasurer. The Settling Day will be on Thursday, the 15 th of April. TO BE RAFFLED FOR, At the White Hart Inn, Christehurch, on Saturday, April 30 th, 5 ACRES of the best description of LAND, but one section from the town reserves. Forty members, at £l each. This property, as the town extends, must become of great value. A plan may be seen at the White Hart, and subscriptions received. The laud will be divided into two prizes, of three and two acres, the highest number obtaining the three acres, the lowest the two acres. On Monday, May 2nd, a RAFFLE will also he held at Mr. Bannister's, Lyttelton Arms, for Five Acres of the same Rural Section, and under precisely similar circumstances. Mr. Bannister holds a plan, and will receive subscriptions. £2 10s. to be spent by the vendor, £1 10s. on the highest prize, and £1 on the second. To be Raffled For, AT the Golden Fjleece, Christehurch, by 60 members, at £\ each, one of Garrett's Improved Corn and Seed Drills. Also,, one of . Ransome's wrought Iron Ploughs, with extra Shares, &c. The thrower of the highest number to win the Drill, and the next highest to win the Plough. The putter up and winner of the Drill to spend £2 10s. each, and winner of the Plough to spend £1. To be put off on advantageous terms, TEN Acres of Land, well fenced in', and all in good cultivation, with Farm House, and out-buildings. Application to be made to Mr. W.
